Warm sunny.

14.4km Alexandria VA to Washington DC.

A pretty sunrise and an easy ride to Union Station.

Stopped at the Capitol Reflecting Pool to take a photo of the Anytime Fitness koala with the sun rising behind the Capitol.

Bikes on board with good place opposite the wheelchair accessible space.

Hurtling north on the train from Washington DC to Niagara Falls via New York where we have to change trains.

Already there are more brown leaves, the green ones looking tired; they’ve lost the full gloss of summer.

The train ride was fine until nearing the final stop we spoke to the guards who told us Niagara Falls was one of the most dangerous cities in the USA, especially at night

I was spooked. Then the wahoo/komoot wouldn't reconnect so I had no map except in my tired fearful head of where to go .

So I opted for the taxi which was marvellous. The hotel is tired and rundown, but clean and safe inside.

But the stiff spine of tension remains and is resistant.
