My schedule
I'm currently in the USA with family - a new grandson arriving anytime now.
While I'm away the beautiful and skilled yoga teacher Sue Broderick will offer hatha yoga at Avalon Yoga Co-op from 8-9:15am.
Normally I teach on Monday mornings at Avalon Yoga Co-op, offering Swiss Ball (the big fit balls) 7:30-8:15am, followed by Supple & Strong Yoga 8:15-9:30am. This is a yoga class focusing on asana, breath, and relaxation.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you’d like more info on my classes or if you have any questions.
Swiss Ball
The swiss ball class is where you’ll get fitter and stronger and have a good laugh.
Your balance, flexibility and mobility will improve, you’ll be challenged and maybe even gain insights into yourself.
I try to focus on it being fun and serious at the same time, with good spinal alignment, posture and breathing.
My yoga history
I completed my yoga teacher training with John Ogilvie at Byron Yoga Centre (500 hours) in 2014 and 2015.
I am also certified in yin yoga (100 hours), meditation (50 hours, also at Byron Yoga Centre), iRest (Level 1) and yoga philosophy (Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies).
Generally my classes offer a blend of asana, breath, philosophy and meditation, with lightness and humour.
I’ve been practising since 2002, after I’d herniated a couple of discs in my neck in 2001. Several people that I hardly knew, and who didn’t know each other, were saying “try yoga”. It felt like the universe was ganging up on me, forcing me to realise that something needed to change in my life.
So I started going to yoga. With skilled, aware teachers including Carolyn Harris, Rick Birrell and Sylviane James among others I really enjoyed the philosophy, breathing and physical practices.
After a strong asana, pranayama and meditation intensive with Rick in 2014, I realised that my office based work as a town planner was no longer suitable for my body.
A week later I resigned, and soon after started yoga teacher training. Since then yoga has become an essential part of my life.
