Spring
Late winter, early spring.
It’s still chilly, and wet from all the rain.
Spring, a time of earth and water. This year somewhat muddy.
Earlier dawns, and it's brighter later as the sun rises higher in the sky.
But in brief moments the sun shines and warms old cold bones.
We relish the sun, the blue sky, even with its clouds, waiting for the next shower.
The peach blossom flourishes despite everything, an old specimen that has survived another winter, like us.
We too are elemental, like the seasons. Water and earth for late winter early spring. Fire, air and ether for other seasons.
So now is the time to consider planting seeds that will grow. Consider which seeds, when, and why.
How will our practices develop us?
Watch your thoughts, they become your words;
watch your words, they become your actions;
watch your actions, they become your habits;
watch your habits, they become your character;
watch your character, it becomes your destiny.
